Our goal: To establish one of Manchester’s biggest creative co-working communities, and give hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs, creatives and small businesses the space they need to grow.
Launched: June 2019
Location: Pollard Street East, Manchester. The site neighbours hip Ancoats and New Islington, and is a 20 minute walk from the city centre along the canal.
The project: Our first Meanwhile Manchester project provides much-needed, affordable studios and light industrial style workspaces very near to the centre of Manchester in converted shipping containers.
Around 30 ready-to-move-into pilot project spaces launched in June 2019, on a site with a pretty basic set up as we started to put infrastructure in place.
Later in 2019, we went big, adding another 67 container workspaces, alongside investing more heavily in the site, shared facilities and breakout space and introduced a full time site manager, Lucy to the site.
More on the spaces: Our containers offer ground level access, security and natural light from the front aspect. They are perfect workspaces for small office based businesses, makers and hands-on creative practitioners. We offer high speed internet starting at 20mbps for £10p/m.
Among those working on site are a web designer, film producer, tattoo parlour, lash specialist, musician, music producer, translator, graphic designer, clothing brand and event photographer. In total we have 97 containers now active on site.
No VAT is applicable.
