Big news from Norwich – the containers have landed!

Over the past week, things have been full steam ahead at St Saviours Yard, Meanwhile Creative’s brand new space in the heart of the city. With the arrival of the first shipping containers, the site is officially shifting from plans on paper to something you can see, touch… and even start to picture yourself working in.

This is the second update in our St Saviours Yard journey – and things are really starting to take shape.

Stacking steel and building momentum

If you ask us, there’s nothing quite like the sight of containers being craned into place to get the excitement flowing. One by one, they’ve been delivered, stacked and slotted together to form the beginnings of what will soon become a buzzing new home for Norwich’s creative community.

We’ve captured some brilliant behind-the-scenes photos of the setup – from the early morning deliveries to the impressive stacking work that’s been happening on site. It’s already looking like a proper Meanwhile space: raw, dynamic, full of potential.

This stage of the build is always a special one. It’s when an idea starts turning into something real – and we can already feel the energy building.

From sketch to steel: the dream is becoming real

After months of planning, meetings and behind-the-scenes graft, seeing the first containers arrive has been a proper pinch-me moment for the team. There’s been a lot of excitement as we watch the site start to come to life.

St Saviours Yard has always been about more than just workspace. It’s about creating a new hub for makers, creatives, startups and small businesses – a place to work, connect, and grow. And now that the foundations (literally) are in place, we’re one big step closer to opening the doors.

400+ expressions of interest – and counting!

We’ve been completely blown away by the response since announcing the site earlier this summer. Over 400 people have already registered their interest, which is more than we ever expected at this stage.

It’s a huge vote of confidence in the idea, and a sign that Norwich is more than ready for something like this. Whether you’re a freelancer in need of a quiet space to work, a maker looking for a studio, or a small business ready for your next chapter, St Saviours Yard is being built with you in mind.

What’s coming next?

We’re buzzing to share that Phase One of the site will launch this autumn, with:

• 62 container workspaces available
• A mix of private studios and creative units
• Shared facilities, communal areas and those Meanwhile vibes you know and love

Then not long after, Phase Two will follow, bringing 23 more workspaces to the site.

You’re invited: Preview Event this October

Want a sneak peek before we open? We’re planning a Preview Event in mid-October (exact date TBC), and we’d love to see you there.

It’ll be your chance to:

• Walk around the space and see the containers in person
• Chat with the Meanwhile team about the vision and your options
• Ask questions, share ideas, and get a feel for the place

After the event, you’ll have the opportunity to secure a workspace ahead of the official launch later in October.
