Cardiff Containers

Our Flagship Project Cardiff Containers is home to an eclectic mix of businesses that make this site truly special. It’s more than just a workspace—it’s a thriving community of creatives who bounce ideas off each other and lend a hand when needed.

“Our containers have been adapted to suit a diverse range of businesses and creative practices. Cardiff is home to a zero-waste supermarket, carpenters, photographers, tattoo artists, music producers, jewellers, fashion and graphic designers. There’s a strong sense of community here; studio holders often collaborate, helping out with things like branding and product shots. Our resident artisan chocolatier once converted one of the shipping containers into the most beautiful pop-up shop with an old-school vintage feel. We also have a band who have converted the space into a rehearsal and recording studio, fully soundproofing every inch of the space so it’s like walking into a soft cell.”

Pollard Yard

Pollard Yard is our largest container project and it’s bursting with personality. Each container has been taken over by a different business, and no two are the same. 

“We love a variation of business here at Pollard Yard; it truly adds to the eclectic, and creative environment of the site. Having unique and niche disciplines also showcases to others the possibilities of what can be done in the containers. We encourage a range of businesses and industries to not only keep things fresh and inspiring, but also to avoid strong competition and over-saturation.

Although business operations and activities may vary from person to person, the common thread is running a small business, which has its challenges! Therefore, it’s so wonderful to see collaborations and the community helping each other thrive and succeed. 

It’s always exciting to see what a new tenant will do with the same wood-lined box, but some standouts have been, a wig maker, a record store, a guitar maker, a bike workshop and a shoe cleaning business. And that’s amongst the many musicians, beauticians, personal trainers and a wide range of diverse and unique hobbyists and small businesses.”

Willway Yard: Bristol’s New Creative Hub

We’re excited to introduce Willway Yard, our latest project in Bristol, launched in June 2024. This site features 76 container workspaces, and we’re currently welcoming new tenants to join the growing community of creatives in the heart of Bedminster. The space offers the same blend of functionality and character you’ve come to expect from Meanwhile Creative, with a fresh, community-focused twist. The site already hosts a diverse array of businesses, including:

1. Tattoo studios that bring a pop of creativity and artistry to the space.
2. Upholsterers and makers, showcasing hands-on craftsmanship and bespoke design.
3. Art therapists who use the peaceful, private setting for their transformative work with clients.
4. Personal trainers who have adapted their container units into bespoke fitness studios.

These early residents are already fostering a collaborative environment, making Willway Yard a vibrant, supportive space where connections happen naturally.
