Since launching a creative work hub in Cardiff, we’ve realised there is a huge amount of creative talent in the city. Perhaps it’s no surprise that there are also some pretty nifty independent shops too. Here are some of our favourites. If you know of any hidden gems that we’ve missed, let us know!
We’re kicking off our list with some of the independent shops in The Castle Emporium.
The SHO is an awesome gallery and shop, containing contemporary design, digital art, illustration and original artworks and more. Check out their exhibition section on their website to see what’s there.
Ami has a passion for both clothing and sustainability, so launching Ami’s emporium just made sense. Head there for a wonderful assortment of vintage and preloved clothing.
Blanche Bakery are a 100% vegan and dairy-free bakery in The Castle Emporium, and their cakes are BEAUTIFUL. You’ll find them on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
You’ll find 31 The Store in The Morgan Arcade. They are an independent menswear store that’s exclusive to Wales. Check out some of their available garments on their Instagram page.
Nest Vintage Living have an adorable range of vintage and shabby chic gifts and home accessories. You can also order online, check out their website here.
Spillers Records isn’t just any old record shop. It’s the oldest record shop in the world, in fact. They stock a huge range of music, it’s worth visiting for a good browse.
Hobo’s Vintage Clothing specialise in both ladies’ and gents’ 60s, 70s and 80s attire and accessories. You’ll find them in the High Street Arcade.
There are so many things to find at Jacob’s Antiques. From furniture to artworks and vintage clothing to second-hand books. It would be easy to spend a day out there.
