Say Hello: Synergi Fitness

Synergi Fitness have been tenants since day one of Meanwhile Creative. We thought it was about time we called around for a catch up with founders Josh and James.

What’s the story behind Synergi Fitness?

Josh – As a teenager I went through a battle with cancer. I used play video games and eat a lot to deal with my feelings. Then I started going to the gym as a new escape. I quit uni and spent all my money and time learning the art of personal training. I wanted to help people who don’t really know what they were doing fitness wise, and help other people discover the benefits of fitness, like I did for myself.

James – I met Josh when we were personal trainers at the same gym. We trained together and noticed what the other PTs were doing wrong – they weren’t training people correctly. We discovered our gym was closing, and after thinking about our options, we realised we’d gained most of our clients through our own social media anyway. So we decided to take the risk and launch our own business.

We rented our first studio with Meanwhile Creative and went from there. Refurbishing the gym took two months, we had to convert the whole space, working all day every day.

What would your tips be for fitness newbies?

Josh – For me it’s the three P’s: practice, perseverance and patience. You won’t get anywhere without least two and you’ll get a long way with all three.

James – Don’t expect instant results, because it’s too easy to get disheartened. Don’t focus too much on weight. If you can afford to, find a genuinely good trainer to introduce you to proper technique. You won’t get the results if you don’t use proper technique.

Tell us your favourite success story.

Josh – I wanted to help people who didn’t know how to do it themselves. So mine would have to be one of my clients I’ve had from the very beginning – she took on board everything I said. The results were there as proof. She’s turned her life around.

James – My best success story, as cheesy as it sounds, is every one of my clients. Every single one of them is a success story in their own right.

What are your goals for the future of Synergi?

James – A company that is renowned across the U.K. We see our brand encompassing physiotherapy, strength, and Olympic lifting.

Josh – We want instant recognition of quality when you see the name Synergi Fitness.

Thanks to James and Josh for sharing their stories! Don’t forget to like Synergi Fitness on Facebook to keep up with the latest Synergi news.
