Now that it’s officially the Summer holidays, you might be in need of some free days out in Bristol. Not only are we spoiled for choice in the city, we also have some pretty cool things to do a short journey away too. Here are some of our favourite free things to do.
Abbots pool is just a short journey away from the centre. On a sunny day it’s the perfect escape from town.
There is always something thought-provoking to see at the Arnolfini – it makes for a great free day out.
There isn’t anywhere else quite like Arnos Vale. The 19th-century cemetery has a cafe and regular events. It makes for an interesting walk too.
Ashton Court is a glorious spot to spend a sunny day. Whether you want to picnic, visit the deer enclosure or marvel at the house and gardens, there is plenty to do for free.
Blaise Castle is a great place to visit. There is a park for kids to enjoy too. Just down the road from Blaise Castle is Blaise Hamlet – a National Trust group of cottages that you can walk around for free.
From animals to art, ancient Egyptian artifacts to dinosaurs, there is so much to learn about in the Bristol Museum.
The view from the top of Cabot Tower is one of the best views in the city, it’s well worth the climb.
There is always a good atmosphere around the harbourside in the summer, and plenty of places to stop and grab an ice cream too.
The M Shed has loads of free exhibitions, and a number of events. Find out what’s on here.
The Red Lodge Museum is hidden away on Park Row. The Elizabethan house is free to explore.
You’ll find Royal Fort Gardens at the University of Bristol. From the road, the garden is hidden from view. It’s the perfect place for a picnic.
