Say Hello: Sunflower Blooms

We recently welcomed Emily of Sunflower Blooms to Freestone Studios. After visiting her studio, we fell in love with her floral arrangements and crafts and had to know her story.

Having always lived in Bristol, Emily is no stranger to how creative the city is. Her studio, which is adorned with colourful bouquets, crafts and paintings is no exception.

Before launching Sunflower Blooms, Emily worked in a number of professions, including working in Africa. On her return, she worked as a care assistant but found the long hours were difficult to sustain.

“I had always said I didn’t think I would be truly happy until I worked for myself.”

Ten years ago, Emily’s mother was diagnosed with MS. In April this year, Emily left her job to help care for both her mother and grandmother. Emily found herself practising crafts during hospital visits, and began selling headbands and pompom decorations.

Sunflower Blooms has been a silver lining for Emily.

“This is the perfect chance to be able to give floristry my all.”

When she’s not with her mother or grandmother, you’ll find Emily in her workspace in Freestone Studios arranging flowers or working on something creative. She recently created flowers for her first wedding, and has since been taking bookings for next year.

“I love sunflowers. Every time I look at them they make me feel really happy.”
